Yamaha announces the release of MODX M OS Version 3.0, a major free update that delivers powerful new features, advanced sound-shaping tools, and enhanced integration for modern musicians. With this release, MODX M now runs the same operating system as the flagship MONTAGE M, ensuring complete compatibility and a unified creative experience across Yamaha’s premium synthesizer lineup.

Flagship Integration and Full Compatibility
By sharing the same OS platform as MONTAGE M, MODX M users now benefit from:
- Full compatibility with MONTAGE M Performances and content
- A unified workflow between instruments
This marks the most significant alignment between the MODX and MONTAGE families to date.
ESP Now Available for MODX M
With OS 3.0, Yamaha also announces full support for ESP for MODX M, the new software instrument that mirrors the MODX M sound engine inside major DAWs.
MODX M players can now:
- Use ESP as a plug-in version of their hardware
- Exchange sounds and Performances between hardware and software
- Enjoy consistent sound creation whether working on stage, in the studio, or entirely in the box
This brings MODX M users into Yamaha’s next-generation hybrid workflow for the first time.

Enhanced Sound and Effects
OS 3.0 introduces new sound-shaping capabilities powered by Yamaha’s Virtual Circuitry Modeling (VCM):
- GS1 Ensemble & Tremolo
- CS Ring Modulator
- Mid/Side EQ Compressor
A newly sampled Clavi waveform and 60 new Performances further expand the instrument’s creative palette.
Greater Control and Modulation Possibilities
Sound designers and performers gain deeper creative tools with:
- Quick Edit expansion from 2 to 8 effect parameters
- Part LFO routing extended across both AN-X and FM-X engines
Streamlined Workflow for Live & Studio Use
OS 3.0 improves efficiency with several performance and organizational upgrades:
- Enhanced Live Set management for faster setlist preparation
Deeper DAW Integration
A newly added ESP Control tab in DAW Remote mode gives MODX M users tactile control over ESP parameters directly from the hardware—creating a fluid bridge between the physical instrument and the plug-in environment.
MODX M OS 3.0 is available now as a free update for all MODX M users.
ESP for MODX M is also available starting today.
