Yamaha's bestseller series, Arius, is back with a new generation of digital pianos: YDP-145, YDP-S35, YDP-165, YDP-S55.

Features

Among their new features is the meticulously sampled voice from Yamaha’s flagship CFX grand piano. With it, players can experience the superbly expressive sound and deep resonance of a classic concert piano in all its authenticity. The instruments have 10 different voices from which to choose, for instance piano voices, strings, e-piano and harpsichord. The YDP-165 and YDP-S55 come with two 20 watt speakers, one on each side, whereas the YDP-145 and YDP-S35 are equipped with two 8 watt speakers.

The YDP-165 and YDP-S55 come with the Graded Hammer 3 (GH3) keyboard with 88 fully weighted keys and synthetic ebony and ivory keytops, while the YDP-145 and YDP-S35 come with a Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) keyboard with 88 fully weighted keys, with matte black keytops. The GH3 keyboard is equiped with triple sensors, which allow for individual notes to be played in more rapid succession. This is a feature that is relevant for more advanced pianists who will be playing trills, tremolandos and cadenzas.

All the Arius models are stylish and crafted with the finest attention to detail. The YDP-165 and YDP-145 have an elegant design with curves that are inspired by those of a grand piano, whereas the piano cabinet of the YDP-S55 and YDP-S35 have a slim profile for convenient integration into any room. All models come in a range of colour variations: black, rosewood, white ash and white.

The YDP-models are also compatible with Yamahas free Smart Pianist app, which delivers lots of customizability through its wide variety of voice functions and the Piano Room function with its many tonal and resonance-setting functions.

What’s new?

 - All models come with the ground-breaking technology Virtual Resonance Modeling Lite (VRM Lite), that previously was only found in their higher tier models. This feature makes it possible for ARIUS models to emulate the sympathetic vibration and resonance of the strings, hammers, frame and cabinet of an acoustic grand when the sustain pedal is depressed and notes are played. The result is a rich, varied and complex sound that will improve any performance.

 - New Sound Balance: Another special highlight is the new technology that optimally corrects the sound balance of the piece being played for an exceptionally natural effect.

 - A special feature of the YDP-165 and YDP-145 is the newly developed tone escapement construction on the back of the cabinet that emanates sound from inside the piano. This allows players to experience a more natural sound radiation and three-dimensional resonance like they would if playing an acoustic piano.
